Cannabis and Yoga: How
Does It Affect Your
Practice?

Massage is an important component of every pain treatment strategy. But have you ever had a CANNABIS massage? Let’s be honest. Muscles need to be rubbed by someone other than yourself on occasion. If you add a cannabis-infused

Yoga and cannabis have extraordinary effects on the endocannabinoid system in the body. Many yoga practitioners believe that marijuana and yoga complement each other’s benefits, such as pain relief, decreased inflammation, improved depression and PTSD symptoms, lower stress levels, and an overall sense of well-being. But, just as each person has their own unique yoga experience, cannabis can influence your personal yoga practice in a variety of ways – for better or for worse.

THC and Yoga

Practicing yoga when high can be a very enjoyable – or a very unpleasant – experience, depending on your tolerance level. It also depends on the strain and delivery method you select. It’s not necessary to get high enough to melt into your mat to practise cannabis yoga. Even a small amount of THC could help you improve your practise. However, not everyone reacts well to the combination of marijuana and yoga, and some people would be better off abstaining prior to class.

The benefits of combining THC and yoga

  • Distractions and mental chatter begin to fade away, allowing you to enter a deeper meditative state.
  • Increased self-awareness and concentration
  • A stronger sense of belonging and feeling in the body.
  • Deep relaxation and tension release from the muscles
  • Oneness, harmony, and a general sense of well-being
  • Simply put, it’s enjoyable and satisfying.

Drawbacks of combining THC and yoga

  • Drowsiness
  • Coordination and self-awareness are harmed.
  • There’s a chance you’ll overstretch your muscles.
  • Distractibility and a lack of focus
  • Anxiety and/or paranoia
  • Mouth is parched
  • The consistency of breathwork is harmed by respiratory discomfort caused by smoking or vaping.
  • A case of the munchies or a fit of giggles in the middle of class can be very distracting.
